Life Or Death: The Choice is Yours

LIFE OR DEATH? The Choice is Yours

We've all heard it said that we are the net result of the choices that we make. Better said, "It's only when you exercise your right to choose that you can also exercise your right to change." Choices are what make us who we are and determine what we can do. We can make our lives desirable or undesirable by the choices we make. This fact is just a further extension of the principle of seed-time harvest: We shall reap what we sow, PERIOD. Knowing this, we can further influence the quality of life we choose to have by closely examining our thoughts. There is a saying that goes, "There may be a thousand little choices in a day. All of them count." With that said, I believe that if we begin to evaluate the choices we make in terms of moral, spiritual and physical absolutes we will be all the better for it.

God tell us very emphatically in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 30 that He gives us the ability to choose life. He says, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live." ~Deuteronomy 30:19. I believe that the choice between "life" and "death" is always before us in everything that we do. That is to say, that everything that we do is either leading to life or leading to death. There is no middle ground. It's just that simple.

Simplifying our choices this way give us a whole new perspective of dealing with and understanding some of the issues we deal with in fitness, diet, weight-loss, and health and wellness as a whole. Think about it. What would happen if we began to think about something as simple or mundane as the food choices we make in terms of life or death? I personally believe that we would make far better choices if we indeed thought about our decisions in this way. What exactly do I mean by thinking in terms of life or death? When I speak in terms of life or death I am simply referring a definitive desirable or undesirable end. In terms of fitness the desirable end may be to lose 20 pounds,  to increase lean muscle mass or to change one's body composition. This means that everything decision we make from second to second, minute to minute, hour to hour, day to day and so on influences whether or not we arrive at our desirable end or not. Likewise, every time we sit down for a meal, we ought to ask ourselves the question, "Is the food that I am about to consume leading to life or death?" In other words, are the food choices for this particular meal leading to my desired end or nor? Remember there is no middle ground. Every single choice we make is either life yielding or death yielding.

Will I stay in bed today or will I get up, get out and be active? Will I give maximum effort on every rep of every set of my workout today or not? Will eat to live or live to eat? Will I make time for personal fitness today or not? Life or death? The choice is yours!

GOD BLESS!

I agree. I choose life. Amen.
